Sculpture Park

On September 27, 2008, on the 40th birthday of the Kunsthalle, the Kunsthalle’s sculpture park, redesigned according to Philip Johnson’s original plans from 1968, was opened. Since then, an elegant, narrow water basin and looped paths invite visitors to stroll. The outdoor sculptures, including those by Olafur Eliasson, Sol LeWitt, Henry Moore, and Thomas Schütte, are illuminated at night.
The park renovation was made possible by a generous donation from Bielefeld resident Dorothea Winkler and support from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Bielefeld.
