Seemingly past events and completed actions continue to have an effect and lead to interdependencies between humans and nature, which become clearly visible in the Anthropocene. The world is more complicated than dualistic patterns of order, such as the division into culture and nature, make it appear. Like this woven work from the Kunsthalle collection. In the upper area, the threads are neatly linked to form a smooth fabric. Loose strands of wool hang down in the lower part. Knots of different sizes are woven into these. This makes the lower section appear more dynamic and dynamic &#8211; order seems to merge into chaos.<\/p>\n<p>Bright colors and organic materials, as in this work, are typical of Sheila Hicks&#8217; work. She studied under Anni and Josef Albers and internalized their colour and textile theories. This art form uses textile materials such as threads, fabrics and fibers as a means of expression. The artists draw on traditional craft techniques (including knitting, weaving and knotting) from different cultures. However, in contrast to these practices, the focus is not on functionality but on artistic expression. Historically, textile techniques were often associated with &#8216;female&#8217; handicrafts and were devalued.
