A naked female figure, shown lying on her side, satisfies herself. Her reduced body, which takes up the entire pictorial space, confidently withdraws from the viewer&#8217;s gaze. She casually holds a drink in her free hand. In doing so, she plays with proportions and physicality: the female figure &#8211; depicted here as misshapen with an oversized head and legs &#8211; appears Picassoesque, yet eludes any view from the outside. She is not the object of male desire, but the subject of her own desire. The desire for one&#8217;s own body as an act of self-empowerment of female sexuality is presented here openly and directly.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole Eisenman wants to make the experience of the world visible and tangible with and through physicality. What does it mean to exist as a female-read person in our society?
