A look at the collection #9
Based on the exhibition Xanti Schawinsky. Play Life Illusion – a retrospective, the collection exhibition shows works by artists in whose environment Schawinsky was active during his time at the Bauhaus and at Black Mountain College in America. The Bauhaus, the renowned German art school that existed from 1919 to 1933, is still regarded today as a laboratory that combined different media and art forms. The Bauhaus artists‘ central ideas revolved around the artistic interplay of light, form, colour, space and movement.
These central themes are addressed in selected works from our collection. The exhibition also includes works by artists that relate directly to the Bauhaus and illustrate its impact to this day.
