Internship
Would you like to know what is going on behind the scenes at a museum? Then you’ve come to the right place!
The Kunsthalle Bielefeld regularly offers internship positions to give you the opportunity to gain experience in museum operations as part of a required internship. Whether it’s curatorial work, art education, public relations, or behind-the-scenes technical work: With us, you’ll gain exciting insights, become part of a dedicated team, and actively contribute to exhibitions and projects.
What to Expect
- A Glimpse into the Day-to-Day Work of a Museum
- Participation in exhibitions, events, and educational programs
- Participation in internal meetings

What You Should Bring
The requirements vary depending on the field. Here’s an overview:
- Field of study: Art History, Visual Studies, Museology, or similar.
- Starting in the 4th semester, ideally with a bachelor’s degree
- Interest in modern and contemporary art
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Excellent English skills
- Previous experience in the exhibition industry is a plus
- Degree in art education, cultural education, educational sciences, teacher education, or a comparable field
- At least in the 3rd semester
- Sensitivity to Diversity and Inclusion
- Interest in designing and organizing educational programs
- Creativity and the ability to develop solutions
- A meticulous, structured, and independent approach to work
- Organizational skills and reliability
- Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to collaborate in a museum setting
- Initial experience in the cultural or educational field (preferred)
