The concurrent exhibition of works by Yto Barrada inspires us to take a new look at the Kunsthalle’s collection. We take as our starting point Yto Barrada’s questions about textile art practice, color studies, and cultural transfer. We show works that illuminate the relationship between nature and man, negotiate combinations of colors and forms against the background of different cultures, and deal with textiles as a medium that is directly linked to Bielefeld’s history as a linen-weaving city.
