Residence NRW⁺ has been awarding four twelve-month scholarships for visual artists and four six-month scholarships for curators every year since 2020. The four programmatic core elements of exchange, practice, support and network offer the best possible conditions for further development in the respective field of work. In changing cooperations with museums, art galleries and art associations throughout NRW, curatorial projects are realized or newly created artistic works are shown.

As a cooperation partner, the Kunsthalle Bielefeld is the first exhibition venue in the 2024/2025 scholarship year, with a project by the residence curators Kristina Grigorjeva and Undine Rietz.

The HYLE¹ exhibition in the foyer of the Kunsthalle Bielefeld explores the relationship between temporality and material. What materials form the inventory of our shared and individual stories? And how do these materials shape our collective futures? As part of the NRW⁺ residency, Kristina Grigorjeva and Undine Rietz are developing a two-part exhibition dedicated to these questions, which will present artistic positions at both the Kunsthalle Bielefeld and the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen.
